Artist Information
Ron Stocke
demonstration time: 11:00am – 1:00pm
Ron has a watercolor style that is recognizable around the world. His loose free approach creates mood and excitement in the paintings he creates. A more simple approach to how he builds his paintings come next. Connecting shapes, paying attention to values and isolating his focal point is his main focus. Viewers will enjoy watching how the painting develops. From a loose wet wash to a more controlled brushstroke, yet never loosing the energy. Viewers will leave wanting to paint!
Born in Chico California, Ron Stocke moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1979. Interested in drawing and painting at an early age, his career as an artist was shaped by life events that really encouraged him to explore ways to cope with everything in a positive, productive way. His first experience with painting came during school as a child when he was exposed to watercolors. Even at that young age, he found a love for that medium that would grow into a career that has lasted throughout his life.
An award-winning watercolor artist, Ron is a regular contributor to, and has been a cover artist for Watercolor Artist Magazine as well as other publications. Teaching comprehensive workshops throughout North America and Europe, he also conducts demonstrations and lectures on various art materials and creating a safe, environmentally friendly studio.

He has been an Artist Ambassador for M.Graham Watercolors for over 15 years. In December 2018 Ron’s first book ‘En plein air” was published by Walter Foster. It guides artists through some of his techniques and shows you how to avoid bad habits early on.

artist statement
Paintings are much more than simply a likeness, they are an opportunity to capture a moment. In my work, I try to capture a slice of everyday life, whether that’s a cup of hot tea in Grandma’s fine china, or a bystander appreciating the window displays downtown.
Whatever the subject matter, my first step is to achieve a good drawing. Value, light, and color are strong elements in all my work, with composition an important factor as well.
I try to paint the world as I see it, or as I would like to see it.
Angela has developed a unique approach to her painting style in opaque mediums. Starting with the dark values of her subject and exploding into the color and light, Angela grabs the viewers interest from the beginning and walks them through her process of how she creates one of her stunning images. With a few brush strokes Angela can capture the depth of the liquid in a teacup or the light reflecting from a store front window. Angela paints a wide range of subjects that will impress even the most prolific artist. Everyone will leave inspired!
Angela was born in British Columbia, Canada, and comes from a multi-generational family of passionate artists. Her Grandmother was one of her most influential mentors and helped shape Angela’s future as a painter. Drawing and painting since she was a small child, Angela completed her first commissioned portrait at 15. After many years as a Graphic Artist and Art Director for companies like Costco, RealNetworks, and Garrigan Lyman, Angela started painting and instructing full-time in 2008.
Her award-winning work has been exhibited in shows throughout North America. She is a Master Signature Member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters (ISAP), a member of the National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society, Plein Air Washington Artists (PAWA), as well as the American Impressionists Society. Angela is currently represented by Cole Gallery in Edmonds, WA and the Lagerquist Gallery in Atlanta, GA.
