These watercolor painting brushes are made with the finest Kolinsky sable hair. Hand-shaped by skilled German brush makers, the brush heads are what make these brushes a must-have for watercolorists. The natural hair ensures a generous belly for holding water and for maintaining a fine point.

Blending Tips:

Taking two ZIG Clean Color Real Brush pens, for a few seconds gentlyy touch nib-to-nib. Keep the two pens horizontal and ink will flow from the top pen onto the tip of the second pen. After using the blended pen, clean excess ink off onto a piece of scrap paper or towel. Another blending technique, take a ceramic or plastic dish and brush a color straight on to the dish. Taking another color (preferably a lighter one) grab the color in the dish and brush away.

I just bought a group of new yummy paints. **If you have marbled before and I have a full class – your marbling times will be on Saturday and Sunday. We will discuss options.
This is a very interesting process that watercolor, acrylic and craft artists will enjoy! You will learn to create patterns and special effects that you can later develop into paintings, collages or just marble over an old painting that makes viewers ask “how on earth did you DO that?”
All paints, alum, marbling tubs and tools will be provided by the instructor, as well as practice sheets of 9 x 12 practice paper (and durable tissue “deli wrap” paper, which can be used for collage) to try out patterns and colors.    There will be additional papers, but if you would like to bring more – these papers are recommended: Strathmore Aquarius II 80 lb, BFK Rivas, and Masa paper waxed on one side are highly recommended) and bring old paintings to revive—can be either watercolors or acrylics. QUARTER sheet size (11×15”) are best. Alternatively, you may purchase paper at Dots and Doodles – Black construction paper is wonderful. You should plan to marble 20-25 sheets of paper. Also, bring a stack of newspapers for creating strips for skimming the tubs.   You can marble on just about anything as long as it is no larger than 11X15.
Day 1: 10:00 – 2:00. For the first two hours, we will prep all of our papers with an alum solution. Bring anything you wish to marble the next day so that you can coat it with the alum solution which you will learn to prepare then hang on our indoor clothesline to dry. We’ll flatten our papers when dry and prepare them for Saturday’s marbling session.   You will also be able to take Alum home in case there are other items you would like to marble.
After lunch, we will look at the methods, materials and tools used in marbling and learn how a marbled piece of paper becomes a finished painting. You will make your paints, learn how to use your tools and create your set-up for the following day.
Day 2: 10:00 am-3:30. We will spend the whole day marbling so come prepared to work and have fun.   Each participant will have use of his/her own marbling tub.   Tub size is approx. 11” X 15” (this fits all paper/canvases cut to that size or smaller. Wear old clothing that you don’t mind getting paint on (aprons are always a good idea). I will have plastic gloves to use if you don’t want to get paint on your fingers—otherwise, bare hands work best. Bring a sack lunch for yourself each day.   Any questions? Feel free  to email me at
Day 3: 10:00 to 12:30 – Optional more marbling, pick up papers – help clean-up. Return Marblers: all day
