Astoria An Artist Destination

A brief history and overview of the city of Astoria. More information at

With Victorian-era homes etched into hills overlooking the Columbia River, this picturesque settlement (the oldest west of the Rockies), Astoria is a port city with Scandinavian flavor. Surrounded by lush forests, three rivers and a stone’s throw away from the Pacific, it’s fishing village meets Victoriana, chock-a-block with forts and museums.

Over the years, after having viewed the CCP videos multiple times, I have been excited about the knowledge and ability of some artists to communicate their craft in an engaging manner.  It is one thing to be able to ‘create art’ but it is another thing to inspire and educate.  Clearly this is true of the two workshops that Dots ‘N Doodles Art Supplies and The Astoria Art Loft are hosting this year.  Carl Dalio, ASW and David Kitler, both very accomplished, will be providing a multi day intensive class which promises to be exciting.  I cannot tell you how excited we are to have them visit us and share their expertise and knowledge.

It is amazing to me that in this small town of 10,000 people that live in Astoria Oregon that we have been able to attract world class caliber artist.  The diversity is truly amazing; as much as Astoria is a hidden gem it also is home to several national notables who live here quietly and work privately.  But beyond that this area with its’ stunning beauty lends itself to a creative attitude.

Please join us for these workshops and more.  Spend a fabulous vacation in a town that is postcard perfect while you engage with other creative people. Check our calendar of events and give us a call for more information.
